Perioperative Multimodal Analgesia in Veterinary Patients and Management of Common Perioperative Complications

7:00pm-8:00pm - Perioperative Multimodal Analgesia in Veterinary Patients

Fundamentals of multimodal analgesic regimens will be discussed, specifically locoregional anesthesia techniques, anti-inflammatory drugs, opiods and alpha-2 agonists and analgesic adjuncts. Integration of pain scoring instruments will also be discussed.

8:00pm-9:00pm - Management of Common Perioperative Complications

Recommendations for standard anesthetic monitoring in sedated and anesthetized veterinary patients are discussed, as well as their role in identifying common anesthetic complications (hypotension, hypothermia, hypoxemia, cardiac arrhythmias), with a focus on management of perioperative hypotension in a general practice setting.
