1. The C.O.R.E. Dental Procedure: Comprehensive Oral and Radiographic Evaluation with Professional Cleaning Procedure. What is at the heart of professional dentistry on dogs and cats?

2. Advanced Oral Anatomy and Pathology for Veterinary Professionals: Recognition of normal vs. abnormal in both the dog and cat will be learned as well as the significance of each pathology discussed.

3. ABC’s of Veterinary Dental Radiology: Full-Mouth Series Simplified: This lecture covers my practical method to efficiently obtain a full-mouth series of dental radiographs as well as a simple strategy to troubleshoot as well as obtain multiple views as needed.

4. Tooth Resorption-Has It Gone to the Dogs? Confusion abounds regarding what occurs in tooth resorptive cases and what the differences are regarding tooth resorption in different species, such as dogs. This lecture will discuss what information we have regarding tooth resorption in the canine species compared to cats.

5. Feline Dentistry- Top Five Feline Dental Concerns: This talk focuses on feline-specific dental concerns and how it is important that we advocate for feline oral health.

6. “Oh, My Nerves”-Regional Anesthetic Blocks for Veterinary Dentistry: The use of local or regional blocks in dogs and cats to provide a multimodal approach to analgesia will be thoroughly discussed as well as specifics to the technical aspects of providing these blocks.

Speaker Name and Credentials:
Benita Altier is a Licensed Veterinary Technician as well as a Veterinary Technician Specialist in Dentistry. She began her career in veterinary technology in 1988 and has worked in small animal general medicine, ophthalmology, equine and llama neonatal care, canine reproduction and dental specialty. Benita is the current President of the Academy of Veterinary Dental Technicians and a Member at Large for the Arizona Veterinary Technician Association. She has co-authored two text books on veterinary dentistry for technicians as well as published several articles on the subject in professional journals. Through her business, Pawsitive Dental Education LLC, she has provided professional dental instruction and consultation to veterinary hospitals and conferences across the US, Canada, and China since 2008. Giving back to the profession and helping veterinary technicians grow their careers in ways they never thought were possible is something she is very passionate about.
